Growing up, my favorite thing to do was play baseball.
Early on you learn that to throw, hit, or field a ball, you need to relax.
The best players are the smoothest and coolest cats, not necessarily the biggest or fastest.
In fact, for most sports this holds true. In order to have a great golf swing, tennis stroke, or basketball shot, you need to be relaxed.
And so it is with sales.
People cannot be forced or manipulated into relationships. Solid relationships take time and investment.
You must, over time, prove yourself to be reliable and trustworthy.
Relax. Take the long term perspective. Be authentic.
Relax doesn’t mean inactivity. Au contraire ! Every day move forward with new relationships.
Work hard, but work easy. Or as coach Rich would say, “be quick, but don’t hurry.”
Rest easy my friend, the real you will attract those relationships so much better than trying to force it.
Don’t force it.
